2013 Annual Conference News

With the 2013 ARNIGP Conference now behind us, and we are happy to report that the event was a huge success.

For those unable to attend, here are a few highlights of the conference:

A fun-filled welcome reception full of great food, music, dancing and even karaoke.

Mr. Graham Sloan, Director of Arkansas Ethics Commission spoke about "Ethics in Arkansas" and "Gift Giving and Acceptance in the Public Sector."

Mr. Mike Rohrer of the Better Business Bureau addressed the ABC’s of the Arkansas BBB and provided some insightful information on fighting against fraud and scams.

Breakout sessions consisting of various staff members from the Arkansas Office of State Procurement covering numerous important topics; a special thank you to Jane Benton, Director of OSP and her staff. Additionally, Mr. Mike Ellis of Genuine Parts Company spoke about “Inventory Management.”

Mr. Ray Burnett, Purchasing Manager, APAC-Central, Inc. gave a presentation on “Purchasing Procurement & Materials Management-Basic Stuff We all Need to Know.”

Our keynote speaker, Mr. Jackie Harris, Attorney and former NFL player addressed chapter delegates about “Personal Leadership” and how to become better leaders.

Special guest, Mr. Jack Adger, Past President of the North Louisiana NIGP Chapter and newly elected Region 6 Representative to the NIGP Board of Directors discussed the challenges that many purchasing chapters are facing and how we, as procurement professionals can be more effective as chapter members and making the best of our resources to promote our chapters.and newly elected Region 6 Representative to the NIGP Board of Directors discussed the challenges that many purchasing chapters are facing and how we, as procurement professionals can be more effective as chapter members and making the best of our resources to promote our chapters.
